The past decade has seen dramatic growth in the Islamic banking sector worldwide, with substantial participation from conventional banking institutions. Ishtirak worked with The Institute For The Future to understand the drivers of growth in the Islamic banking sector and to predict how it may develop in the next decade.
We see Islamic banking and finance as a fundamental part of mainstream banking and world financial markets. Our research suggests how Shariah-compliant investment vehicles can be efficient, viable alternatives in challenging market conditions. Our work has also addressed sukuk, microcredit, musharakam, murabaha, and takaful instruments as major new sites of financial innovation.
